Selected students from various tertiary institutions across the country have been trained by Dubawa Ghana on fact-checking and information disorder. 

The workshop which run from the 10th to 12th of May was organized by Dubawa, Nigeria's first indigenous independent verification fact-checking institution.

The three days intensive residential training organized at the Coconut Grove Hotel in Accra aims to help students combat misinformation and information disorder. 


The maiden campus project further seeks to extend the culture of truth-telling in the information ecosystem to tertiary institutions by training and equipping students with the necessary skills to contribute to fact-checking and promote a culture of truth and accuracy in public discourse.

Participants now have knowledge on conducting full-fledged fact-checking reports, identifying best sources for fact-checking, how to conduct comprehensive research on a given topic and how to use multimedia verification tools for fact-checking.

Speaking at the opening of the program, the training team, led by Miss Caroline Anipah; Programmes Officer for Dubawa Ghana said, the training sought to bring about the emergence of student fact-checkers who will lead the fight against misinformation and disinformation in their various schools in Ghana.

The three days multidimensional training had students from the University of Ghana (UG), Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University for Development Studies, Blue Crest University College, Institute of Business Management and Journalism (IBM&J)
