Issues raised range from a slow down of the system to extra cost of data.
"The Portal for exams was bad. Students are likely to use 5 times the data plans they are currently using...Students spend more and more airtime for a work which should cost less" a student shared.
Some students have also raised issues in relation to the system's timing. Per the explanations given by the IT unit, the system is supposed to continue from the time where a user goes off the system whiles the examinations are ongoing.
However, students have complained that this was not so as the time continually read whiles they were not logged in.
Sharing his personal observations after the piloting of the system few days prior to the official start of the examinations, General Secretary of the SRC, Nambe Patrick observed the following;
1. It appears there is no LOG OUT feature on the Moodle Application, even though there is an option to add new accounts.
2. The developers of the application software did not include any pausing feature, not even the Web Version for users to temporarily stop an activity from moving.
3. The time for MCQs keeps running even after logging out of the system (intentionally or unintentionally) for some few minutes...
"So, the observations above defeats the early assertion of one having the chance to pause, log out of the system and continue from where he or she ended with the same timing" he added.
Examinations started yesterday, 8th June with French for level 100 and Diploma 1 students and Broadcast Newswriting for level 200 students. Next paper is on 10th June.
